There has been a steep decline in the amount of outdoor swimming pools and the number of people visiting them in the Netherlands. In about 35 years time the amount of pools went down by 35%, visitor numbers followed roughly the same trend.
To see if it’s still worth visiting outdoor swimming pools, Lisa Koetsenruijter en Madelon Meester, for national Dutch newspaper De Volkrant, visited six swimming pools with a special story. I followed them in their pursuit and documented each swimming pool in a single image.
